<B><I>The Great Age of Sail</B></I></B></I> <B>Book Given to Buddy Ebsen by</B></I> <B><I>Hillbillies</B></I></B></I> <B>Producer Paul Henning.</B></I> This was Buddy's favorite book, <I>The Great Age of Sail,</B></I> by Edita Lausanne. The front page is signed in green, "To Buddy Ebsen The Greatest sailor I know from Paul Henning," with Henning adding in red ink, "Christmas 1967." Henning was the creator of <I>The Beverly Hillbillies</B></I> and its chief writer, and 1967 was the show's sixth season on the air. The magnificent hardbound 11" x 13" book runs 252 pages with appendices, offers a richly comprehensive world history of sailing, has wonderful illustrations (many in color), and Buddy, who was indeed a great sailor and won several trophies, enjoyed this book immensely many a night. The book's cover is torn at the upper binding with some other minor damage at the borders.
