<B>The Estate of Thomas Gordon Penn.</B></I> A fascinating archive of manuscript correspondence (30 pieces approx.) concerning the lands of the Penn family in America in the mid-nineteenth century including nine Autograph Letters Signed by Civil War General <B>George Cadwalader</B></I> (1806-79) who was granted power of attorney over the lands held in Americas by Granville John Penn. The papers date between May 1868 and October 1869 and the correspondents include George Cadwalader, John Cadwalder, William Rawle, Major Forbes, Phillip A. Haurott, and others and concern the estate of Granville John Penn as well as Thomas Gordon Penn. An important archive chronicling the complex relationship between the Penn family, most of whom resided in England, and their remaining land holdings in Pennsylvania.
