Scott & Co., et al. THE COIN COLLECTOR'S JOURNAL. ILLUSTRATED. Vol. 1-13, complete. New York, 1875-88. Tall 8vo, seven volumes in the original matching blind-decorated blue cloth bindings, gilt; three other volumes in later cloth bindings; Vols. 11-13 bound together in tan cloth. 2544 pages; numerous text illustrations. Some bindings a bit worn or faded, with occasional tears to cloth. A very good or better set. Adams page 58: "The Coin Collector's Journal ... Edited first by Frossard and then by Proskey, contains a wealth of useful content." Scott's Coin Collector's Journal is one of the great nineteenth-century American numismatic periodicals. While publications like Frossard's Numisma may be more entertaining to read, the Coin Collector's Journal provides more solid numismatic information on a wide variety of topics than any other commercial publication of the day.
