Pair of typed lyric sheets for the song 'White Riot,' each one page, 8.5 x 13 and 8.25 x 11.75, no date but circa 1977. The larger sheet is a draft copy with black ink notations by Paul Simonon, who adds the line, "White Riot, I Wanna Riot, White Riot, A Riot of My Own," at the top and bottom, and makes a few other small emendations to the body. The same sheet also bears pencil notations by Joe Strummer, who adds directional arrows to the middle chorus line, changes 'people' to "Man," and makes a couple other small style changes. The second sheet serves as a final lyric copy. In overall fine condition, with editorial notations to both and edge wear and toning to larger page. Melody Maker journalist and first Clash manager Caroline Coon requested the lyric sheets so she could use them in an article prior to the release of the band's self-titled debut album; the same lyric sheets were used in the production of the group's first songbook. Pre-certified REAL.
