Strummer’s personally owned and used black-bodied Fender Squier ‘telecaster’ electric guitar. This guitar was used by Strummer during recording sessions for the Gross Pointe Blank soundtrack, as well as Strummer’s solo album, Earthquake Weather, recorded during 1988-89. Strummer has also affixed a Joe Strummer & the Latino Rockabilly War sticker to the body, with light remnants of two other affixed stickers, one to the body and one to the black pickguard. In fine condition, with expected wear from use. A fantastic instrument from a trying period in Strummer’s musical life. Having moved to Los Angeles to record his album, Strummer struggled and worked tirelessly with his band, as well as close friend Gerry Harrington, to expose himself to other sounds as motivation to complete the recording. The album was well-received by critics, bridging nicely from Strummer’s time with the Clash and into his next project, the Mescaleros. Acquired directly from Harrington, this guitar represents the re-emergence of Strummer after his time with the Clash.
