Unique original handmade collage concept artwork designed by Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer as a potential sleeve for The Clash's 1978 single by ‘(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais.’ Accomplished in mixed media on 7.75 x 7.75 sheet, the artwork consists of a cut-up glossy photograph of the group with the song title across the middle in a 3D effect and the band name at the bottom. Handsomely matted and framed to an overall size of 12.75 x 14.5. In fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of an email from artist Caroline Coon, in full: "If I remember correctly, the original collage artwork for the 'White Man in Hammersmith Palais' single was designed and made by Paul Simonon with Joe Strummer and brought to me for discussion in by Ladbroke Grove studio." Also includes a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, stating that the artwork comes from the collection of artist Caroline Coon. An English artist, journalist, and political activist involved in the London punk scene in the 1970s, Coon created artwork for groups including The Clash (whom she briefly managed) and The Police.
