The Caddy (Paramount, 1953). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). This film's most enduring contribution was originating the song "That's Amore," for which the film was nominated for an Oscar. However, among the film's other pleasures are cameos from real-life golfers like Sam Snead and Byron Nelson, Donna Reed as a love interest, and, of course, that combustible Martin and Lewis chemistry. Dean Martin plays a boozy cad whose calm under pressure is the envy of an otherwise ace golfer (Jerry Lewis). Lewis becomes Martin's caddy to impart his knowledge and absorb his cool, but when his help pushes Martin to win, Martin questions if he really needs Lewis. Sound familiar? The set has a few smudges, and three cards have stains at the top edge. The art's fantastic, though, especially the card featuring Martin and Lewis and a host of golf greats. Very Fine.
