<B><I>The Bride of the Man-Horse</B></I></B></I><I><BR></B></I><BR>Frederic Victor Guinzburg, American (1897-1978)<BR>Patinated bronze<BR>From base: approx. 47 inches high, 66 1/2 inches wide<BR><BR>A monumental patinated bronze sculptor based on the science fiction story, "The Bride of the Man-Horse," incorporated in <I>The Book of Wonder </B></I>by Lord Dunsany, also known as Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron Dunsany (1878-1957), of Ireland.<BR><BR>Excerpt: "And the wind of the autumn that was gilding the world, rushing up the slopes of the mountain, beat cold on his naked flanks. He raised his head and snorted. 'I am a man-horse now!' he shouted aloud; and leaping from crag to crag he galloped by valley and chasm, by torrent-bed and scar of avalanche, until he came to the wandering leagues of the plain, and left behind him forever the Athraminaurian mountains."<BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>Shown at the Anderson Gallery in New York, 1970's.
