The Boston Tea Party lives on! Extraord
The Boston Tea Party lives on! Extraordinarily attractive full color certificate, poster style, 22 x 28, entitled "Improved Order of Red Men," the oldest fraternal order in America, established 1765 and still in existence. Its name was then "Sons of Liberty," who, protesting the tea tax, dressed as Indians in 1773, and were recorded in history as the Boston Tea Party. After the War of 1812, their name was changed to its current one. To illustrate their love of liberty, portraits of Washington and the Indian Chiefs Tecumseh and Tamany are shown at top of this brilliantly colored certificate, together with flags (including the U.S.), Indian scenes, and title "The Society of Red Men, Organized at Fort Mifflin...1813." Printed by J. Adams, 1905. In center, two blank portions with motto. Fine.
