<B><I>The Beard</B></I></B></I> <B>Theatrical Play Fillmore Poster (American Theater, 1966)</B></I> Michael McClure's play, opening at the Fillmore for only its second ever performance, was the cause of much controversy and outrage in its day. Featuring a "meeting" of Jean Harlow and Billy the Kid in a "blue velvet" afterlife, the sometimes racy dialog caused the actors to be arrested after leaving the stage. Bill Graham allowed only one performance at the Fillmore.
