The Batman (Columbia, 1943). Lobby Card (11 X 14 ). No The Batman (Columbia, 1943).
The Batman (Columbia, 1943). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Not only was this the original screen incarnation of the Batman and Robin characters, but this serial also introduced several of the now-familiar conventions that eventually made their way back into the comic books as well. The Bat Cave was first seen here, as was the tall, thin appearance of Alfred the butler, as portrayed by William Austin. Before this, Alfred had been a clean-shaven, portly British gentleman. From this serial on, Austin was the model for the Alfred character in both the films and the comics. This lobby card has tape stains in the corners, light edge soiling and small pencil marks along the edge. There are edge creases and a couple of edge tears, one of which has tape on the back. The card features a wonderful action shot of Lewis Wilson as Batman, Douglas Croft as Robin and J. Carrol Naish as Dr. Daka, A wonderful card from this earliest of the Batmans. Fine.
