(Marvel, 1963) The landmark first issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel’s most popular and enduring series. The title launched eight months after Spider-Man made his debut in Amazing Fantasy 15. Since then, after being published bi-monthly and even weekly at times, it has become Marvel’s highest numbered series. The cover from the combined talents of Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby is one of the most recognized comic books ever, previewing the story of Spider-Man meeting the Fantastic Four. The book is also the first appearance of one of the most important supporting characters in comics, J. Jonah Jameson, publisher of the Daily Bugle, who antagonizes our hero with his “Spider-Man is a Menace!” campaigns. The comic book is CGC graded a Restored Moderate (A-3) with cream to off-white pages. The restoration listed is color touch, pieces added, reinforced, cleaned, bottom of front cover trimmed, and “Stan Lee” written on the first page in pen.
