The 39 Steps (Gaumont, 1935). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). With the smashing financial and critical success of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" to his credit, Alfred Hitchcock was in a position to negotiate for control over his next production. This film, based on the famous John Buchan novel of 1915, was freely adapted and changed by Hitchcock until very little of the original plot remained. Fortunate casting provided Hitchcock with the dashing Robert Donat who was promoted as a matinee idol. Paired with him was the beguiling Madeleine Carroll. This lobby has been restored to replace the lower left corner within the border. Also replaced was a spot one inch by four inches running vertically along the upper left border and corner. There were pinholes in each corner and several in the border. There is also three pinholes within the image. There is a small puncture in the upper right corner of the image. Colors are bright and the card displays nicely. Very Good/Fine.
