A Negro woman…was a night ago shot and scalped. Last night they came to the camp of the Pitkin Guard, but were run off…We have as yet no arms. All are…eager for the fray…'' Paper loss and heavy toning and wear, though letter remains in readable condition. Several lines of writing missing. Letter measures 8'' x 9.5''.
