Colt M1911A1 Argentina Police Contract Model 1927. S/N 71472, manufactured 1952. Owned and carried by retired Texas Ranger Sergeant Doyle Holdridge. Ranger Holdridge personally engraved this pistol and the black buffalo horn grips, as well as having the trigger guard "bobbed" or removed for positive access, was Ranger tradition made famous by Captains Lone Wolf Gonzaullas and Frank Hamer. This model 1911A1 is Colt licensed model manufactured by the Argentine government. The absence of the national crest indicates police or non-government issue. This pistol was custom engraved over a period of time by Ranger Holdridge who studied under Tol Dawson, a fellow D Company Ranger who was also a highly respected engraver. It is finished in a satin stainless with the name "Holdridge Texas Ranger" engraved on the backstrap. With wood presentation case, and signed letter from Ranger Holdridge. Also includes a signed copy of his book "Working The Border, A Texas Ranger's Story".
