Fancy, early stock saddle with filigreed corner plates. Makers cartouche on each fender, barely visible, Fort Worth is clear but the name is not. From the size of the oval it is most likely an Edelbrock & Son saddle. Full seat, square skirt, double rigged Rocky Mountain style, high back, floral carved show saddle with solid nickel horn and lovely filigreed (cut-out) nickel corner plates. Iron oxbow stirrups with silver overlay. Good condition with minor age cracking and issues at stress points, replaced sheepskin, circa 1910-20.

Provenance: Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Sale to benefit the collections of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History began in 1941 as the Fort Worth Children’s Museum. Its Museum School, begun later that decade, is legendary. In 1968 the museum changed its name to its current name so that adults might feel compelled to join in the fun too. We are proud to offer a number of items from the collection of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the sale of which will directly benefit the museum and its collections. Lots 339-351, plus several lots in the online only session.
