Texas Lawman’s ensemble consisting of Colt Single Action Army, .45 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, renickel plated, hardrubber grips, serial #34621. Colt police positive .32 caliber double-action revolver, 4” barrel, scratch engraved in saddle shop or western style, blue finish, hardrubber grips, serial #143552. Pair of Peerless handcuffs in leather case. Original Sheriff’s badge with enamel lettered “Cal Rose Sheriff, Grey County Texas.” Badge is stamped-type, shows Texas star at top, about 1930’s to 40’s. Good condition. Belonging to Sheriff J. C. “Cal” Rose, Sheriff of Grey County, Texas. Cal Rose was a old style lawman and was involved in a big shootout where he put 4 bullets in the heart of J.D. White with Colt .45 serial #34621. J.D. White was a former Texas Ranger and the shootout was under questionable circumstance, but he was subsequently exonerated after a formal investigation. He had many interesting exploits and was a tough hombre who dispensed justice Texas-style with a single-action. The Colt police positive was given to his wife for self defense when Cal Rose’s life was threatened by criminal elements in 1939. Cal Rose died in 1949. An affidavit signed by David
