[texas] Edwin Waller - Signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence (1800-1881) Originally from Virginia, he arrived in Texas in April 1831. He was elected on February 1, 1836 as a delegate from Brazoria to the Convention of 1836, which met at Washington-on-the-Brazos and adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence. As a member of the convention, he served on the committee that framed the Constitution of the Republic of Texas. Autograph document signed, 7½ x 3¼ in., Bellville, Austin County, Texas, 27 February 1856. A promissory note for $1,000 to be paid to Gustav Keoch, guardian of Arthur A.E. Kopisch, on or before the first of January 1858. Blue paper is discolored but strongly penned and signed.
