Pine, with scrolled front rail. Measures 26" tall, 23 1/2" deep, and 64" long. This middle to late 19th Century daybed measures 23-1/2” deep, 26” tall and 63-1/2” long. The mortise and tenon joinery piece is secured by square pegs. The double cyma curved legs, which measure 1-3/4” x 5-1/2” are shorter in height, they were probably shortened by 2” due to damage as they appear as if they would have more of a taper. The skirt measures 1” x 5-1/2” and is missing a top decorative molding. The two horizontal arms consist of urn, barrel and spool turnings. Below the turned arms is a middle scrolled rail. Most daybeds exceed six feet in length, but this piece was made to order. Glenwood Vernon acquired the piece at Burley Auction. GBG acquired daybed from Burley in April of 2012. The piece closely resembles another daybed in GBG’s collection; no doubt they were made by the same cabinetmaker.
