Uncommon Republic of Texas 10 dollar 'redback' note, 7.25 x 3.25, No. 84, dated January 1, 1840, signed along the bottom by James H. Starr and Mirabeau B. Lamar. The note features engraved images of Jupiter holding a lightning bolt to left, a ship under full sail to right, and top center featuring an image of Venus arising from the ocean with oyster shell positioned atop her head. In very good to fine condition, with expected cancellation cuts. The capitol of the Republic of Texas was in Austin from January 19, 1840 to September 1842.
