Very appealing 50th Anniversary of World War II commemorative cover, 7.5 x 5, with a cachet honoring 'Stilwell's Army Begins Battle for Burma,' signed in black ink, "'Tex' Hill, Sqd. Ldr. 2nd Sqd., AVG," with Hill adding a lengthy critique of Stilwell on the reverse: "Stilwell was a tough soldier but was not qualified as a Theater Commander. The mission you refer to I remember very well. There were 6 or 8 B-25's that were replacement aircraft for the 11th Bomb Squadron. They were ordered to swing by to bomb Lashio, Burma on the way over with no fighter escort. They were all lost except one or maybe one other but they were badly shot up with dead crew members aboard. Bissel didn't get a medal but was drummed out of the service for black marketing." In fine condition.
