circa 1880. A massive flat bottomed jar with short rim featuring an interior shelf for a missing lid. Pinkish-cream slip decorated with central band of spread-winged birds flanked by stylized rain clouds and floral devices and with the shoulder with panels of geometrics; 16" high x 19" diameter. An exceptionally large vessel showing characteristics of both Pueblos. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. Vessel shows evidence of old stapled repairs and major coil break approximately 6" below lip with subsequent breakage and restoration, including inpainting. Entirely worthy of restoration.

<p>Condition of Items in the Sale. Cowan’s Historic Americana Auctions does not warrant the condition of any lot sold. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, and neither Cowan’s nor the consignor makes any warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect to the property or it’s value, and in no event shall they be responsible for correctness of description, genuineness, attribution, provenance, authenticity, authorship, completeness, condition of the property or estimate of it’s value. No statement (oral or written) in the catalog, at the auction, or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation, or any assumption of responsibility.

<p>Estimates. Pre-sale estimates of the expected hammer price of each lot are provided for the convenience of prospective bidders. In most cases, they do not represent reserves. Bidders are encouraged to bid what they feel an item is worth.

<p>HOW DO I BID?
<p>Internet bidding through icollector and ebaylive auctions is offered as a service to our customers, and prospective bidders shall not hold the auctioneer or his staff responsible for any errors or failures in executing bids, nor shall they hold the auctioneer responsible for any failure due to the loss of the auction applet supplied to Cowan’s by ebayliveauctions.
