Territory of Idaho, Territorial Warrant, dated October 14, 1865. One of the original series Idaho Territorial Warrants, this certificate has two attractive vignettes, a Liberty with Native American Plume Headdress reminiscent of James Longacre's $3 Indian Princess gold coin of the period, and an antique circular vignette representing the "Territorial Auditor." Warrant was issued at Boise City for $100 to an A.O. Brown for maintaining the Territorial Prison for six months, but went unpaid until April of the following year "for want of Funds" in the Territorial Treasury according to notations on verso. Measuring approximately 9.5" by 7.5", printed in black on a hard surfaced white paper, the certificate is tri-folded and starting to separate at edges. The document shows some age and light foxing. It would be an excellent candidate for archival stabilizing. Condition is Fine and very rare, worth a premium bid. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
