Italian violinist (c. 1866–1956) of ephemeral fame, known as the ‘violin fairy.’ Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by Schaarwachter of Berlin, signed and inscribed with a lengthy French sentiment on the reverse in purple ink, and dated 1888. Front lower border bears an ink collector’s notation. Scattered surface marks to the image, a small area of staining to the reverse, and ink marks crossing out a first attempt at the inscription, otherwise fine condition.
