Vostok 6 was the historic space flight of the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova

This red armband is a very significant object which witnessed the historical event when the first woman flew into space with the Vostok 6. The most important participants signed this armband to commemorate their attendance at this historical event. The armbands of this type were worn only by authorized persons before the start of the Vostok 6 at the launch pad. Vostok 6 was the space flight of the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova (b. 1937). The spacecraft was launched on 16.06.1963 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and Tereshkova landed safely back on earth in a capsule on 19.06.1963 after she has orbited the earth 49 times. The red armband shows the signatures by the academics Korolev, Keldish, Mitin, Pelushka and Kosmzok, as well as by the members of the Federal Commission Kerimov and Kam… and the commander of the spacecraft Vostok 6 Tereshkova and the cosmonauts Gagarin, Titov, Popovich, Leonov, Gorbadga and others.

The armband is in good condition with traces of wear. The golden inscription is largely abraded. The dimensions are 10 x 28 cm.
