<B>Teke (Democratic Republic of Congo)</B></I><BR>Standing Male Figure<BR>Wood<BR>Height: 13 ¼ inches Width: 4 inches Depth: 4 ¾ inches<BR><BR>The facial scarifications and hair patterns of this unusual figure point primarily to the Teke for its origin. The posture and general gestural language do relate to other groups to the southeast. An interesting feature is the placement of four old holes in a directional pattern at the center of the chest.
