This small wool rug, 31 x 43,” was used as a display piece at the Ahwanhee Hotel Gift Shop in Yosemite National Park. The weaver is Delores Tsosie. The rug was originally from Tobe Turren’s Indian Trading Co. in Gallup, NM. Its wide black border encompasses bright turquoise and red designs, and the central blocked design also carries through with turquoise, red, pink, blue, and brown designs on a natural ground. The Teec Nos Pos name, meaning “Cottonwoods in a Circle,” comes from a settlement in the northeast corner of the Navajo Nation. These weavings are characterized by a wide border and center sections filled with an exuberant variety of motifs [www.rugtrader.com/styles/teecnosp2.htm]. Purchased in 2000. This is a sturdy weaving in excellent condition. Fairbanks Collection - HKA#65394
