American cartoonist (born 1912) best known for the strip featuring the wisecracking maid Hazel, which later served as the basis for a popular television series. ALS, one page, 5.5 x 9, dated August 21, 1976. Key responds to a Hazel question. In part: “Thank you for the kind words about ‘Hazel.’ Hazel originals are priced at $150 each, with reproduction and book rights retained by me.” Letter is affixed by its top edge to a slightly larger white board; and 15 hardcover Random House Theatre books from Key’s personal library, each signed in ink on the first free end page. Letter is in fine condition. Books rate overall very good to fine condition.
