Taylor Fur Getter Trap Gun with Ground Spike
Made in the 1920s, the Fur Getter was single shot trap gun, with an 11 3/4 inch bait hook secured to the sear, running directly under the barrel. The arm swivels on two hinges, causing the arm to be steered in the right direction when an animal pulled on the bait, setting the gun off at point blank range, most likely in the head. Fitted with a 12 inch long steel ground spike, which can be removed to reveal a 2 1/4 inch swiveling screw. Marked "TAYLOR FUR GETTER. / F.C. TAYLOR FUR CO. ST. LOUIS. MO." on the left side of the frame, 1914 patent date on the reverse.
