British-born American novelist and prolific author of popular fiction (1900–1985), also known by the pen names Marcus Holland and Max Reiner, whose best-known works include Dynasty of Death, Ceremony of the Innocent, Pillar of Iron, and Captains and the Kings. DS, signed “Taylor Caldwell,” one page, 8 x 8.75, September 1, 1959. Consent form authorizing Mr. H. Keith Thompson to publish her "letter to him of January 8, 1958 pertaining to the 'war crimes trials' and the case of Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz." Below, she pens a lengthy note, initialed "T. C.," in part: "I know you will use your best discretion about the excerpts you will use in your book from my letter, such as eliminating anything personal…After all, as a patriotic American I have enough enemies as it is! Moreover, I don't want any more punitive visits & malicious assessments by the Infernal Revenue, such as occurred not too long ago because I was attacking Communism 'two hard,' to use their own expression, damn them!" Affixed to a cardstock sheet and in fine condition, with trimmed edges.
