Tatham London Double Barrel 16 Gauge Flintlock Shotgun

Manufactured circa 1800 to 1810. The floral engraved lock plates are script marked "Tatham" and the hammers are also floral engraved. A single bead sight is featured on the solid rib. The twist barrels have recessed breeches with large platinum vents, inlaid platinum band and gold poincons of Tatham London appear on the top of each breech. The rib extension is engraved with a sunburst and the breakoff has relief floral engraving. The locks are bevelled with stepped truncated tails, throat hole cocks, "V" shaped rainproof pans and roller frizzens. It has steel furniture with forend tail pipe engraved with a sunburst, pineapple finial and dog and floral engraved trigger guard with the rear tang featuring a grip loop. The straight grip stock features a smooth forearm with single barrel wedge, a checkered wrist, a cheekpiece and a flat buttplate. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches.

Good as partially refinished (wood). The barrels have a smooth gray patina with traces of the twist pattern remaining. A dent is present on right barrel muzzle. The remaining metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina. Some light pitting is present. The revarnished and repaired stock is also good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
