Tarzan Memorabilia Lot w/ Tarzan Clubs Guide
Tarzan Memorabilia Lot Including a Rare Copy of the Tarzan Clubs of America Official Guide. This booklet was issued to members of the Tarzan Clubs in 1939, printed in a quantity of 200 copies, with the proviso on the title page that it "...should never be shown to a non-member nor any of its contents divulged to any but members and honorary members..." The lucky winning bidder of this lot will, only 67 years later, be privileged to know all about the organization of a Tarzan Clan, the secret handshake and passwords, the dance and song, the officers, and be able to look up words and phrased in the official Ape-English dictionary. This handsome little volume of 32 pages is softbound, 5.5" x 7.75", in fine condition, and includes the original (unused) mailing envelope.

Also in this lot are two B&W press photos. The first is 10" x 8" and pictures Vern Coriell, Mike Pierce (Burroughs' grandson), Lex Barker (as Tarzan), and Edgar Rice Burroughs. A note on the verso states that this is one of the last photos taken of Burroughs. The other photo is 8" x 10" and pictures Edgar Rice Burroughs introducing W. S. Van Dyke to Johnny Weissmuller. The last of the "goodies" in this group is a framed two-color centerfold ad for The New Adventures of Tarzan [starring Herman Brix] likely from the Motion Picture Herald. It advertises "Two Versions- A 7 Reel Feature and a 12 Episode Chapter Play" along with the various booking exchanges. Four great items for even the most serious Tarzan collector.
