Western ZHOU Period, this fine cremated plaque is of Lantian Jade of Shaanxi province. Broken in the center and repaired, the seam of repair has not been covered up (as I acquired it). The cremation in a high heat does NOT make the artifact stronger - but the opposite, so I am not surprised it was found in two almost equal-size pieces in the tomb. Great and complex carved design, nice creamist color....a find looking piece that can be easily worn as a pendant. 2-1/16" by 1-1/8" across at widest point (there is a slight taper to the sides). Top quality carving and eye-appeal....a super expensive artifact if perfect (would never have been sold to me I am sure).
