Tales of Suspense #59 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 O
Tales of Suspense #59 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white pages. With Marvel limited to publishing a handful of titles due to the distribution agreements of the time, even Grade-A heroes often had to share a magazine. So it was with big shots Iron Man and Captain America, who coexisted for 40 issues, each in his own story. To kick off the run of double-features, both crime-fighters appear on this Jack Kirby cover. This particular issue was especially significant for Cap, since his adventure, drawn by Jack Kirby, was his first solo story since the "fake" Captain America's appearances in the 1950s. And we'd never forgive ourselves if we didn't mention that Cap's story has the first appearance of Jarvis the butler! Don Heck handled the art for ol' Shellhead. Overstreet 2005 NM- 9.2 value = $550. CGC census 7/05: 7 in 9.4, 7 higher.
