TZU CHIN OR BATAVIA CHINESE EXPORT. Lot of 14 pieces, all Chinese export Tzu Chin ware, also known as Batavia ware, or capuchin-brown (cafT au lait), circa 1720-60. This lustrous brown-glazed porcelain with blue underglaze and/or Famille rose, or Famille verte color-scheme were exported by the Dutch East India Co. during the K'ang His period. This lot includes a 4.75" diameter x 5.5" high covered jar; PLUS 2 cups and saucers; 6 odd cups; 2 odd saucers; 2 waste bowls, including one with a Christie's tag from the "Nanking Cargo" shipwreck "Lot 5550A"; one handled cup; AND a coffee carafe. Covered bowl with tiny chips on interior of lid; 1 odd saucer with chips; carafe with hairline; 2 cups with rim chips.
