TWO SIXTH PLATE DAGUERREOTYPES.
French or American, ca.1850. A portrait of an elderly woman in conservative dress with a long sleeved dress, cape, and frilled edge daycap. Plate is hallmarked with a rosette, lamb (Agnus Dei) between two crescent moons, '40', and "A Gaudin / Brevete". 3 1/4"h. 2 3/4"w., in a case, 3 5/8"h. 3 1/4"w. A portrait of a woman with faintly tinted cheeks. Plate is hallmarked "HB [eagle] 40". 3 1/4"h. 2 3/4"w., in a case, 3 5/8"h. 3 1/4"w. Both with imperfections.

Condition: "Gaudin" daguerreotype with solarization, missing case closure. "HB" daguerreotype with wear and interior loss to case, solarization and dust.
