Two Very Rare 1857 and 1858 Abraham Lincoln - Stephen Douglas Debate Campaign Speechs with Remarks of Douglass Delivered in the State House at Springfield, Il., June 12, 1857 on Kansas, Utah, & the Dred Scott Decision
July 17, 1858-Dated, Original Printed Campaign Speech given by Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois, together with Stephen Douglass’ June 12, 1857-Dated Remarks Delivered in the State House at Springfield, Illinois, on Kansas, Utah, and the Dred Scott Decision, both Fine.
1. July 17, 1858-Dated, original, Printed Campaign Speech titled, “SPEECH OF HON. ABRAHAM LINCOLN, DELIVERED IN SPRINGFIELD, SATURDAY EVENING, JULY 17, 1858” given by Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois, measures about 6” x 9.5”, 8 pages, Fine or better. Lincoln gives a stirring speech in favor of Fair Apportionment. (This copy noted at its top front page margin edge in pencil as “Monaghan’s No. 12”). He also points out how “Judge Douglass” has attacked Lincoln’s speech of June 16 and he goes point by point to show Douglass his stance when it best suits him.

2. June 12, 1857-Dated, Uncut and Untrimmed original Imprint titled, “Remarks Of Stephen Douglass, Delivered in the State House at Springfield, Illinois, regarding Kansas, Utah, and the Dred Scott Decision, intact broadsheet style measuring about 12.5” wide x 19.25” wide when open, with each individual page measures about 6.5” x 9.75”, total of 8 pages, Fine. Overall, well printed and complete having natural splitting between the page folds, edge and central edge fold chips(where meant to be cut into 8 separate pages).
