TWO MISSISSIPPIAN TYPE POTS. Mississippian period, Circa 1200-1500AD style. 1) Pot shows spiral design suggestive of Southeast ceremonial cult. SIZE: 6in. dia x 4-1/4in.. CONDITION: Some damage and repair. 2) Small plain bowl with punctate decoration around the rim and pseudo appliqu handles. SIZE: 4-3/4in. dia x 4in.. CONDITION: Small 1in. sherd exfoliated from one side, otherwise sound and good. 9-25984-54 The Tennessee Collection of Prehistoric Indian Artifacts from the Allen Graves Estate. All of the following lots have come from the Collection of the Late Allen Graves of Tennessee. The collection was inherited some years back by his daughter, who now lives in Maine. This collection was consigned to us directly from her. We employed someone to generally identify styles and types, but as stated above, due to our lack of expertise in this field, we can not guarantee the age or origin of the following pieces.
