TWO DECORATED JEWEL CASKETS.
American, 19th century. Pine, burl veneer, ebony veneer. Stepped lid box with red and gold paint decoration. Lid has stencil of an eight-pointed star. Interior has a mirror held in place by gilt liner. 6 3/4"h. 14"w. 9"d. Along with a burl veneered box with rope stringing, and bird marquetry inlay on lid. ebony inlay escutcheon. Base molding. Interior once had a mirror. 5 1/4"h. 11"w. 7 1/4"d. Imperfections.


Condition: Red and gold box -- two long cracks in lid. One is 7"l. chips to paint on front right corner. Chips at edges. Mirror in interior is loose.

Veneered -- loss of some veneer on on lid. scufs to veneer.
