TWO BOXES.
American, mid 19th century. Poplar and pine with pigment. Large,grained, poplar document box. 4 3/4'h. 18"w. 12"d. Along with a smaller box with a primitive landscape of a house on lid and a decorative stencil around sides. Both with gold paint. Raised on later gold ball feet. Imperfections. 4 3/4"h. 10 1/2"w. 7 1/2"d.
Condition: Document box as circular ink stains and a 5"crack on lid as well as all over crazing of surface.
Smaller box as all over crazing, some scufs to paint and a 1" chunk out of back of lid. Not visible from front.
