TUKHACHEVSKY, MIKHAIL N.
(1893 - 1937) Russian general and politician, chief of staff and Marshal of the Soviet Union, convicted for treason and executed. One of the first victims of Stalin's great purge of 1937-38. D.S. in red pencil, 2pp. legal folio, Leningrad, Feb. 7, 1929, in Russian, untranslated. A top secret report of the Military Council for Leningrad regarding the state of strategic roads in the region. The verdict was grim as the report notes that only 4% of the roads surveyed are in good condition with an additional 17% in need of small repairs, 40% in need of serious repair and the rest impassable and/or under construction. Chipping at margins results in some losses affecting text, usual folds, moderate wear, overall good condition.
