(1740 - 1809) American soldier and politician, served in the Continental Army as a paymaster; comptroller of the treasury 1778-1779; appointed secretary and aide-de-camp to General George Washington in 1781; elected to the First, Second, and Third Congresses A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Lebanon, Ct., Dec. 24, 1808 to Gen. Eben. Huntington asking that communications from the Secretary of War concerning detached militia be forwarded to him. In fair condition: mounting remnants on verso with tape repair thereat which shows-through, ascenders on "ll" in last name lost due to large chip cause by seal, margins ragged. Sold as is.
