TROTSKY, LEON
(1879 - 1940) Russian Communist leader who with Lenin organized the Bolshevik October Revolution, defeated by Stalin in their struggle for control of the government, banished and later assassinated in Mexico. Rare good content A.D.S. in blue indelible pencil, written on the verso of a telegram sent to him from Petrograd, 1918, in which the sender confirms that per Trotsky's orders, one Val'den had been searched and detained, his documents examined and held, with Val'den later released due to his physical inability to travel to Moscow. One the verso Trotsky notes that Val'den was injured in the struggle against one Keretsky on the 31st of October, and adds that he is most upset that Val'den had been disturbed. Trimmed slightly at bottom, slight wear and soiling, overall very good. A good content document, with the "right" date!
