TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD  MODEL 1890  CARBINE.
Cal. 45-70. S# 452022. Bbl. 22". "Model 1890" is a collector's designation & refers to some later arsenal alterations including front band which protects Buffington rear sight & a front sight protector. This Rifle has 1884 marked breech block & 22" bbl. Lock is marked U.S. Springfield & has eagle stamp. Walnut stock is fitted w/ later style buttplate w/ trap & saddle ring on left side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct front sight protector. Model 1879 combination tool & 2 front sight blades (front sight presently w/ out blade). CONDITION: good. Metal parts w/ traces of original blue are mostly dark brown patina w/ many dings & scratches. Stock is sound, but shows considerable use. Bore is dark. Considerably pitted. Mechanically good. Breach block quite loose. (01-19210/MGM). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
