TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, HENRI DE
(1864 - 1901) Diminutive French painter of Parisian cabaret entertainers and night life, renowned for his posters and over three hundred lithographs. Fine content A.L.S. "Henri" 2pp. 8vo., "Lucas [a restaurant], Midi [noon]" Aug. 15, [n.y.], in French to his mother. In part: "...If I have not written you if is that I have been overbooked with work. I have worked so much as I have been able to on my drawing of Figaro, but Bachon is being unhappy, I have not sent him Figaro. He made the observation to me that as an artist I have to show all the best works I am doing always so maybe I should not show it. I think that you would want me to have listened to this sage reasoning...I am going to work this evening at the bar...Shoot!...". Weakened folds with some marginal tears, a central hole slightly affecting the text, otherwise good.
