Lot of two certificates from the Tennessee Coal, Iron, and Railroad Company, incorporated in Tennessee in 1860. 1) Certificate No. 572 issued to J. Jennings McComb for 50 shares. Datelined Nashville, 1893. Signed by W. Baxtor Jr as President and J. Bawron as Secretary. Vignette of railroad in upper left and miners underground in upper right. Red border and "Preferred Stock" in red underprint with black print. Cancelled by hole punches through signatures, with "Reissued Apr 19 1900" stamped near center bottom. Printer: ABN. 2) Certificate No. 4852 issued to Charles A. Miller for 10 shares, dated 1894. Signed by (illegible) as President and Cashier, with J. Bawron as Secretary. Railroad vignette in upper right with mining vignettes at center top and far right. Brown border and underprint with black print. Cancelled by hole punches through signatures, with "Reissued Oct 29 1894" stamped near center. Printer: ABN. Line ran from Tracy City to Cowan, TN, approximately 21 miles. Used primarily to transport iron and coal, it connected with the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railroad at Cowan, 64 miles north of Chattanooga [Poor's RR Manual, 1879, pp. 501].
