Partly printed, DS in Latin, 1p, small oblong folio, [New Haven], Sep, 1806. Untranslated. Embossed paper seal present. Diploma awarded by Yale College to <b>Elisha Ely</b> (1782-1842), a clergyman. Signed “Timotheus Dwight Profs.” at conclusion. Signature slightly uneven; light general toning; occasional light/moderate foxing does not affect legibility; o/w in good condition. Mounted and contained under glass within simple wood frame. Taped to verso of frame is boldly penned genealogical text beginning with Elisha, tracing his lineage to 1926 plus a note presenting the diploma to his descendant James Soper Ely, in 1932.</span></p>
