HOPKINS & ALLEN AND WINCHESTER. No.1: Mexican Model 1897 Bayonet. 15 7/8" fullered bright blade. 20 7/16" overall. Blade is marked in left fuller "REMINGTON ARMS CO. / ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.". Crossguard has muzzle ring & curved quillon. Smooth walnut grips secured by two rivets. Blued steel scabbard w/ ball finial. Black leather frog is riveted to the scabbard. CONDITION: bayonet is unsharpened. Blade is turning gray w/ patina & peppery oxidation. Balance of metal is also gray & patina. Grips have modest wear & staining. Scabbard retains 50% original blue. Frog has wear & scuffing. Stitching remains tight. / No.2: Model 1889 Belgian Mauser Bayonet. 15 5/8" fullered blade. 20 5/8" overall. Blade is marked on left ricasso "HOPKINS AND ALLEN ARMS CO. / NORWICH, CONN. / U.S.A.". Crossguard w/ muzzle ring has curved quillon. Smooth walnut grips retained by two Spanner screws. CONDITION: metal has light wear & has turned overall patina. Blade is unsharpened. Grips have very light wear & tiny missing chip on right side by escutcheon. / No.3: Russian Contract Model 1895 Winchester Musket Bayonet. Second model bayonet w/ the longer 15 7/8" bright fullered blade. Bayonet is 20 3/8" overall. Marked on front of the crossguard "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS, CO.". Smooth walnut grips secured by two rivets. Blued steel scabbard is unmarked & has leather frog riveted to the back. CONDITION: bayonet has bright metal turning gray w/ light wear & handling marks. Bayonet has been lightly sharpened. Grips have good appearance showing very little wear. Scabbard shows a great deal of its original blue w/ light wear & areas of oxidation as well as fine pitting throughout. Frog has moderate wear. Stitching remains tight. (02-24537-2/RW).
