Nineteenth century hinged wooden case containing a partial set of assorted ophthalmology surgical instruments, some marked Tiemann, Sharp & Smith, Sheerer (Germany), and J. Merhrlust (New York) including eye specula and ear spoons. 2 3/4"h. 13"w. 7 3/4"d., and a hinged leather-covered case "J. F. Hartz / Surgical Instruments / Detroit, Mich." containing two small instruments: a lancet marked for Stephens and a nasal specula. 1 1/2"h. 4"w. 2 1/4" d. Together with a sample book of English steel suture needles, "The Fengel Corporation / 239, Fourth Avenue, / New York City U.S.A" having eight panels of sutures. 6 1/4" w. 8 3/4" h.
Condition: Wear to cases. Some suture needles missing from Fengel case.
