ALS, as Major in 19th Regiment, signed "Tho S Jesup", 1p, May 4, 1813, 4to, Cleveland, to "Major Genl [Morgan] Lewis or the Officer commanding on the Niagara Frontier", nice War of 1812 content. In part, "...An express has just arrived from Sandusky...Fort Meigs, at the rapids of the Miami, is closely invested by a British and Indian force...the express mail, in attempting to go through, has fallen into the hands of the Enemy: apprehensive that from some document...the Enemy may have learned something of the intended movement in your quarter, I have deemed it my duty to apprize you of the event..."
